23 years ago, I was working at Aston Martin, focusing on developing a new platform of cars, which needed some prototype parts. At that time, a new company called FRP, led by Nick Osborn, was introduced to the Aston Martin team. Nick stood out not just for the quality of his work, but for his unique style, as he would regularly arrive in the office wearing his signature bright-coloured striped shirts, always carrying two suitcases —one filled with chocolate and the other with samples and parts for the prototypes that Aston Martin needed.
Nick’s willingness to help and his creativity in solving problems quickly made him an invaluable part of the team. I fondly remember how Nick would travel across the country, two days a week, to assist us in obtaining the needed prototype parts. This eventually led to discussions about opening a Midlands office to save Nick from the frequent long journeys. Over time, Nick and the Aston Martin team formed a strong professional bond, particularly with me, who relied on FRP’s expertise in developing new vehicles.
When I moved to Jaguar Land Rover, I continued to stay in touch with Nick and FRP, as their services were just as essential. They became the go-to choice for prototype parts.
One day, Nick reached out to me, asking if I knew anyone who might be interested in running FRP’s Midlands office. I realised that the opportunity would be the perfect fit for me. This pivotal moment marked the beginning of a new chapter in my career and solidified my connection with FRP. Looking back, I cherish that period as one of my best memories.
