“25 Stories for 25 Years” Oliver: My Journey With FRP

My journey with FRP started when I was just 16, spending my summer holidays helping out in logistics – bagging parts, assisting the team, and getting some valuable work experience (along with a bit of pocket money!). Even back then, I could see the company’s potential and the passion of the people who worked here.

Years later, during the COVID-19 pandemic, I returned to FRP. At the time, we had a 3D printer, and the team and I used it to produce face shields. We donated them to local hospitals and care homes near Wisbech to support frontline workers. It was a proud moment to be part of something that made a small difference in a challenging time.

After completing my university degree in Furniture and Product Design, I joined FRP Wisbech as a Project Administrator. From there, I worked my way up to become a Junior Project Manager – a role that gave me a deeper understanding of our projects, processes, and customers.

After a house move made the commute difficult, I decided to step away from FRP. But not long after, Dean got in touch about a Sales Engineer position that had opened up. The timing couldn’t have been better. I loved the role – being the first point of contact for customers, helping them solve problems, and finding the right solutions. Plus, the Friday breakfasts were a definite highlight!

After about eight months, I transitioned internally into a Project Coordinator role, which better aligned with my skills and long-term career goals. I’ve now been in this role for six months, and I’m really enjoying it. It’s been amazing to grow alongside FRP – from summer work experience as a teenager to being part of the team driving projects forward today.
