CT SCANNING FOR TTP’S CLIENT

TTP required high-resolution CT scanning of their previously tested biological assemblies, to understand the internal functionality and detect any hidden defects. The project presented the following key challenges:

  • Timing: The project was time critical, requiring an accelerated approach to complete the scanning and analysis within a limited timeframe.
  • Product Handling: Due to the sensitive nature of the parts and the need to preserve confidentiality, the biological parts had to remain sealed in their packaging throughout the scanning process.

Solution

FRP tackled these challenges by maintaining clear communication with TTP and collaborating closely to find the safest, most effective solution. Using our Zeiss Metrotom 800, we successfully scanned all parts without removing them from their packaging, ensuring confidentiality was upheld.

To meet the project’s tight deadlines FRP extended shifts, allowing us to maximise scanning time. As the project neared completion, TTP requested an additional six parts to be scanned and analysed. Despite the CT scanner being pre-scheduled for another project, our team arrived early CT Scan the additional assemblies within just four hours.

Each CT scan generated approximately 6GB of data (the equivalent of two movies), meaning TTP would have needed to process 72GB of data. However, with TTP purchasing our Silver CT Scanning Report Package, FRP handled all data processing and delivered comprehensive reports in easily accessible PDF files and videos, relieving TTP of this responsibility.

Result

TTP received a detailed analysis of their parts, which helped de-risk their program. The reports included not one but twelve different sample analyses, one of which identified an internal leak path. FRP provided high-resolution videos, enabling TTP to clearly identify failure points and verify assembly accuracies.

FRP’s commitment to flexibility, clear communication, and efficiency enabled TTP to meet their tight project deadlines while maintaining the confidentiality of the biological parts.

“TTP has worked with FRP on multiple of projects over many, many years. We have always found FRP to be responsive, proactive, honest, and cheerful. In one recent example: The FRP team pulled out all the stops, including adding additional shifts, to provide us with data to successfully advance one of our client’s projects. Not only are we sincerely grateful, but our client is too.”
